Omicron. What is the difference from other strains?
Omicron. What is the difference from other strains?
• Infection with the Omicron virus is characterized by a 3-fold increase.
• Omicron is characterized by a short incubation period compared to the Delta strain. Incubation time in "Delta" is 5 days, in "Omicron" up to 2 days. And in other strains, this period is increased to 14 days.
• This strain spreads very quickly. This is especially common in the USA and Europe. The epidemic is growing at an alarming rate every day. WHO reports that Omicron has been detected in more than 100 countries.

Clinical manifestations
• The vast majority of infections caused by omicron are asymptomatic or in the form of a mild cold.
• According to reports from South Africa, 80% of patients are hospitalized less frequently than previous strains after infection with Omicron.
• In case of infection with the Omicron strain, the course of the disease is most often found in elderly people and patients with chronic non-infectious diagnoses.
• With an increase in the total number of infected patients, patients go to the hospital with a large number of referrals. This will lead to an increase in the next load on hospitals.
